Intended learning outcomes:
On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate a critical understanding of the role of finance in addressing climate change, including how financial systems, institutions and investment decisions shape climate outcomes.
- Analyse climate change as a systemic risk and evaluate its implications for financial markets, economic stability and public policy.
- Assess the effectiveness of different approaches to climate finance, including public, private and blended sources, and their role in supporting mitigation, adaptation and resilience.
- Critically evaluate the frameworks and tools used to support climate-related investment decisions, including economic appraisal, risk assessment and governance mechanisms.
- Engage with the political, institutional and ethical dimensions of climate finance, including issues of global governance, equity and justice in the allocation of financial resources.
