Intended learning outcomes:

1- develop & express detailed critical analysis of the diversity of issues & themes relating to the modern / contemporary Middle East by engaging with relevant academic publications, & demonstrate knowledge of how these issues & themes relate to & influence each other 

2- evaluate different academic / scholarly arguments & analyses presented within module readings & relevant academic publications (evaluations to be presented in the assessed reaction paper)

3- formulate a focused academic / scholarly argument by identifying & researching relevant academic sources, & to write this argument in a structured & concise manner (argument to be presented in the research essay)
