This module will run in semester one. It is designed for students who have successfully completed Chinese 1B or equivalent . It aims to introduce more grammar points, vocabulary and sentence structures enabling students to develop skills in reading, writing and speaking at elementary level. Upon successful completion of this module, students are expected to be able to read and write simple texts and communicate on certain everyday topics and function at Lower A2 of CEFR and Band 3 of HSK.
Textbook: New Practical Chinese Reader book 2. At the end of Semester 1, L15 to L19 will be covered.
CH2A (book 2 L15-L19) in Semester 1. If you successfully pass CH1A, you may continue for CH2B (book 2 L20-L24) in Semester 2. There are different versions of New Practical Chinese Readers in the market and stock could be limited for a particular version, we, therefore, ask students to buy the version from Hanban UK, which is about 15-minute walk from SOAS at 124 Euston Road, London, NW1 2AL. In the first lesson, they will bring textbooks to our classroom (£15?). If you miss the first class, please go to the address above in person to buy the book.
