Intended learning outcomes:

This module will provide an interdisciplinary foundation to the study of energy and climate policy in a global context. By engaging with a series of key debates and case examples related to the policymaking, politics, governance and economics of the two interrelated fields, you will gain an understanding of their underlying developments and overarching issues at the heart of the 21st century energy transition.

Learning outcomes:

  • Demonstrate substantive knowledge of global energy and climate policy and their interrelation as fields;
  • Display in-depth knowledge of concepts and analytical approaches to the study of energy and climate policy;
  • Develop an ability to discuss and analyse a range of case studies drawn from both the Global North and South assessing energy and/ or climate policies;
  • Ability to contribute to debates focused on energy transitions and the low-carbon economy;
  • Conduct independent research, exercise critical judgement, write cogently and persuasively.
