Intended learning outcomes:

  • Understand the main issues in the fields of (global) climate policy and governance, sustainability and environmental governance more broadly and how they are interconnected;
  • Demonstrate a critical understanding of climate and sustainability governance architectures, international negotiation and regime formation processes and the actors and ideas shaping them;
  • Ability to apply academic concepts and theories to case studies drawn from the Global North and South;
  • Ability to critically analyse academic and policy documents in the fields of (global) climate and sustainability governance;
  • Demonstrate the research skills necessary to interpret and assess the ways in which public and private actors respond to climate change, sustainability and broader environmental challenges;
  • Ability to participate in contemporary debates on global climate and sustainability governance and policy.
