- Demonstrate an understanding of the evolution of the patent system of the UK and that of Europe under the European Patent Convention of 1973, as amended in 2000 [Council of Europe Instrument];
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of the general principles governing subsistence and scope of patent protection;
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the challenges facing patent law; AND
- Identify and evaluate the different elements of the breach of confidence action [UK] and the prerequisites for protection by trade secrets under EU law
