Intended learning outcomes:
1. Explain and critically evaluate different and competing narratives of African economic development and structural change and demonstrate understanding of variation in policy and performance between and within countries.
2. Develop a close attention to the availability, quality, and reliability of evidence at both a macro and micro level as a capability supporting the critical evaluation of claims made about performance and prospects.
3. Explain and analyse trends and claims in relation to a range of aspects of economic development and structural change in Africa, including sectoral performance and linkages, trade and finance, social inequalities, labour, poverty, and health and education.
