
On completing this module, students should be able to:
LO1: understand and analyse knowledge and information about the nature of law and how it is understood in different contexts.
LO2: exhibit some awareness of the inherent uncertainties, ambiguities and the limits of the law, its interpretation and application by the courts.
LO3: demonstrate awareness of the legal system of England and Wales, including its court structure and personnel.
LO4: identify and examine underlying values and ethics within law especially in regards to the use of artificial intelligence in academic research and practice.
LO5: identify, locate, and retrieve standard legal materials in various forms, including paper and electronic:
LO6: demonstrate awareness of appropriate legal citation methods, in particular, OSCOLA.
LO7: demonstrate intellectual independence, including undertaking tasks independently, conducting self-directed research and demonstrating critical judgement.
LO8: demonstrate awareness of a range of legal skills including, critical analysis, problem-solving, information synthesis, written and verbal communication using appropriate legal terminology.
